The actual wording is as follows:
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
It is now very evident that I live in the South.
We’re now fixin’ to hang all the stockings with care
And the sweet smell of biscuits now fills the air.
Mama in monogrammed pjs and I in my cap
Just sat a spell on the porch and took a quick nap.
When what in the Sam Hill just appeared in the sky
But there was St. Nick himself out the corner of my eye.
The children cut the lights and fell asleep – bless their hearts.
“Hold your horses,” Rudolph yelled so they could get a good start.
And then, goodness gracious, there arose such a clatter
I thought what in tarnation could be the matter?
With sweet tea in hand I looked over yonder to see
Santa coming down the chimney looking for me.
He told me his reindeer needed a snack
So I grabbed a buggy at the market and brought a few carrots back.
With temps close to 80, Santa looked up and said,
“It’s as hot as all get out and I’m ready for bed.”
He hopped back on his sleigh and yelled to Rudolph, “Let’s go”
And the reindeer agreed they might could take off without snow.
Then I heard Santa exclaim as they rode out of sight
“Merry Christmas Y’all and be sure to sleep tight.”
